Easter Spending

It’s almost Easter which means that there will be a lot of easter eggs being frantically bought at the last minute.

But how much money is actually spent on the holiday? This year there is a predicted $18.2 billion to be spent on Easter-related products! With $2.6 billion of that being spent on candy alone. That’s a lot of chocolate bunnies.

Easter Travel Surge

In addition to the traditional easter product spends, this year has sparked further spending due to the predictions of a ‘white Easter’.

As a result, people seem to be rushing to book last minute breaks to escape the ‘beast from the east’.

Travel bookings for the Easter period have increased by 61% in the run-up to the holiday.

Online travel agents have seen more than double the number of travel bookings compared to this time last year, whether it be sun or ski breaks.


Fortune Telling Frappuccino

Travel agents are able to predict bookings and Starbucks are now able to predict your future with their limited edition fortune telling frappuccino.

The coffee brand has introduced a limited edition peach flavoured crystal ball frappuccino which was available March 22nd-26th.

The cold drink is said to predict your future by the colour of the sprinkles that get put on top of the frappuccino. These gems are in a secret packet and neither the barista nor the customer knows what the colour of them will be.

There are three possible colours that can be inside of these packets.

  • Green which signifies luck.
  • Blue which predicts adventure.
  • Purple that forecasts magic.

This gimmick is a way of getting consumers to share their colourful drink and the results on social media, similar to the ever so popular unicorn frappuccino that was available last April which generated more than 155,000 ports on Instagram.


Starbucks Building Relationships

Starbucks has revealed that this week they are seeking to establish a stronger connection with their customers.

They are doing this by testing a plan that requires customers to provide an email address in exchange for WiFi! This way you can make sure to upload the images of your crystal ball frappuccino!
